Berea Presbyterian Church
Beliefs

- Biblical Doctrine: This defines all that
we are and do, thus our united confession of faith is essential: namely the
historic, Reformed, and Presbyterian Faith as expressed in the Westminster
Confession of Faith and abbreviated in our church constitution, Article
III. We want to cultivate a hunger and love for Biblical teaching.
- Worship: This is the defining
event in the Church – all spiritual life and ministry begins with worship,
both corporate and private. We cherish a Biblical view and practice of
worship on the Lord’s Day.
- Ministry: The Church is an
organism that encourages the use of gifts in service. Every member is a
minister called to serve the Lord.
- Relationships: The beauty of the
Lord is seen when we love one another and submit to each other out of
reverence for Christ and according to His Word. We especially treasure God
given structures for our relationships, in particular that of 1) marriage
and the family, and 2) the Church as the body of Christ.
- Team ministry: Small groups,
relationships of teaching, encouragement, accountability, and service are
a Biblical pattern and essential to service and growth.
- Cultural sensitivity: We are called to
engage our culture with purposeful teaching and application of the Gospel
to people in our post-modern world, and to do so with a Christian mind
educated in Scripture and aware of the world.
- Excellence in all we do: We are called to love
God with a whole-hearted commitment in which we offer the best we have to
His purposes and in His Church. We aspire to biblical high standards in
both knowledge and life, required especially of leaders by God’s Word.
